As a child I took piano lessons for about four years and then stopped. However, I’ve always wondered if I could really do something with piano, and determined that after I retired I would take lessons again. I was fortunate enough to find Keith Jefcoat for my teacher. Not only is he a superb pianist himself, but I cannot say enough for his innate ability to teach, and to bring out the best in each student. Having studied with him only since 2007, he has helped me to not just play notes, but to make music. This is exactly what I want, and has brought me great joy. Thank you, Mr. Jefcoat!

My son Michael Di Iorio has been taking lessons for about four years with Mr. Keith Jefcoat. When Michael began taking lessons he was extremely distractible and unorganized. I’m sure would have given up piano if he had not had a teacher, like Keith Jefcoat, who was flexible enough to adapt his lessons to accommodate Michael’s idiosyncrasies. Not only was Keith Jefcoat able to motivate a younger Michael, he also has helped him to develop strong technique and an understanding of music, by a well thought out curriculum. We drive almost 45 minutes one way to lessons, and would never think of going anywhere else.

Our in-home teacher, Mrs. Trudy Piper, moved away when Jonathan, my son, was 7 years old. He had been taking lessons from her for 2 years. She referred us to Mr. Keith Jefcoat at Preparatory Music. It has been such a blessing! Jonathan has improved by leaps and bounds! The structure that PMI offers is what keeps Jonathan challenged. He has been able to participate in the Jr. Festivals and the Piano Guild. Both of these are awesome in measuring his accomplishments.

Our family has been involved with the Preparatory Department at Brenau University for many years. All of my seven children have taken piano and either harp, guitar, or voice from the various teachers. Our experience has been delightful. My children have grown to be exceptional musicians due to the consistent and excellent teaching they received at the Preparatory Department. The teachers are professional in every aspect yet they are able to relate to children on their particular levels. Festival, Guild, and recitals challenge students to prepare pieces for performance and, in doing so, sharpen their skills continually.
