Martha Burwell received her Master of Music in Harp Performance in 1969 from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. The previous year she received her Bachelor of Science in Education at Ball State. She studied with the acclaimed Carlos Salzedo graduate, Lilian Phillips with lessons from Lucile Lawrence and Mimi Allen throughout the years. Mrs. Burwell has been with the Preparatory Music, Inc. affiliated with Brenau University, since 1995. Her previous experiences as Instructor of Harp have been with the University of Illinois in Champagne, IL., Illinois State University, Illinois Wesleyan University, Valparaiso University, IN, and Stephens College, MO. |

When she lived in Houston, TX she was harpist with the Houston Symphony for three years. She has been the symphony harpist for symphonies throughout Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, recording studio harpist, and faculty harpist performing with all the Faculty Ensembles in the above mentioned Universities. Mrs. Burwell is a member of the American Harp Society, the Atlanta Chapter of the AHS, MENC, and the Gainesville Music Club. She has performed at American Harp Society National Conventions. |
